- Mommy got a pedicure. Purple toes and soft feet = happier mommy. Happier mommy = happier you.
- We have packed our hospital bags (see picture above...they're in the background).
- Last night, we bravely opened the breast pump box, washed its components, and learned how to use it. Understand that this is a big deal, as this thing looks like some kind of torture device despite the pictures of cute babies and happy mommies on the front. Plus, you should be very proud: we managed to not make any inappropriate jokes during the whole encounter.
- I washed and dried all of your bottles.
- I washed and dried all of your clothes and blankets.
- I double layered your sheets on the crib, thanks to the advice of Aunt M. As I have learned, it is next to impossible to get a sheet on a crib mattress without dismantling the entire set-up of the bed, so we put a waterproof mattress pad, then a sheet, then another waterproof mattress pad, and another sheet. This way, when you poop on your sheet in the middle of the night, we can just pull off the top two layers, leaving a new, fresh one underneath, avoiding the entire charade of taking out the crib mattress to put on a new one at 3am. Brilliant
- Daddy installed your car seat bases last night in the freezing cold garage. He did not wear a coat, but, darling, this is not an excuse for you to not wear a coat when it is cold outside.
- He also assembled your swing, only to learn that when we put the batteries in, it did not work. So he then took it back to BabiesRUs and exchanged it for a new one, which he assembled again. Luckily, in this case, the second time was a charm.
- We have had
- In a fit of nesting, I cleaned out and vacuumed our master bedroom closet, so just in case you find your immobile newborn self in the closet, it will be clean.
- We are going to Cheesecake Factory tonight for one last hurrah as a childless (kind of...I can hardly call my giant self "childless" right now) couple. This is where we went for our first date, and it was also where we went the night we got engaged. Plus, one last round of cheesecake is surely good preparation for delivery.
- We tested out the new video camera. You'll be a facebook sensation before you know it.
- We purchased and painted your name's letters to hang on the wall in your nursery. We haven't hung them up yet, because, well, we're still deciding. We thought we had it figured out, but now we're wavering again. Feel free to let us know what you would like to be named.
- We have diapers and wipes in three locations: your bedroom, our bedroom, and the living room (since Mommy probably won't want to go up and down stairs very much at first).
- We made a list of who we need to call or text when you arrive. There are four rounds: the first two are family members, and then a few close friends after that.
- I have addressed and stamped the envelopes for your baby announcements. (But we need your picture and height, weight, etc. before we can order them!)
- We arranged for help from your grandmas, aunt, and friends to help Mommy when Daddy goes back to work. Little one, we are very lucky, because I don't think we'll have to make dinner for a month after you arrive!
- Also, just so you know where to go when you want to ask this question: Aunt M explained the basics of "how the babies will get out" to your curious cousins A and K, who are trying to figure out how you and your new cousin (also due to arrive in a month or less) will make their arrival into the world.
- Many other things...I can't remember them all. The bottom line: I think we're as ready for you as two people can possibly be!
