Back to school...

Oh, freshmen orientation. A day so chaotic that I'd prefer to give up the free pizza and let the freshmen orientate themselves. Either way, back to school is different this year (because isn't everything different this year?).  Assuming all goes as planned (let's all collectively cross our fingers and toes for this, and maybe knock on wood just to be safe), this "year" will really be this semester.  At freshmen orientation today, one question on my "quiz" was "True or False: I'm having a baby."  Most immediately looked for the bump, squinting their eyes because, well, it's there, but not really noticeable to anyone who doesn't know me or thought perhaps I just had a really big lunch.  Besides "is it a boy or a girl?" they didn't ask many questions, and I didn't really expect them to, given that they barely know me.  They did seem excited, though, and while I worry that I won't be able to be the same for this group as I have with the others, I think it will be fun to be pregnant and teaching 9th grade - for, after all, the rumors about all teenagers being rude and selfish are simply not true.

As I'm getting into full swing for school, I'm also getting into full swing for all things baby, including maternity clothes.  Too bad those back-to-school sales don't include maternity clothes (or maybe that's a good thing?).  I have a start to my little collection, but for now am still squeezing into my regular clothes with the help of a belly band, a phenomenal creation which is basically a band of elastic that allows me to leave my pants unbuttoned without anyone knowing.  We're also starting to look at cribs and dressers for the baby's room, and narrowing down our list of potential names (no - we're not telling!).

There's not much else to report right now, so I'm signing off with plans to enjoy my last weekend before school really starts next week.
