Kicks.

Besides the growing belly that just about everyone seems to comment on these days, I don't have much to report.  However, here are some little things:

- I am not sure if the raging hormones of the first trimester have returned or my eyes are just plain watery, but I seem to be tearing up at the weirdest moments these days.  While shopping at Hobby Lobby, Canon in D was playing (one of my favorites that always makes me think of our wedding), and it was enough for me to wipe a tear away...but I didn't even say anything to Ryan and just considered it a concidence.  Later, I was searching for baby room inspiration online and found the Winnie the Pooh quote, "Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart," and there it was again.  I don't know.
- I should be grading papers, but instead, I'm writing this blog. This seems to be a common theme. Don't worry, students, your papers will get graded...but probably not this weekend.
- I'm especially grateful for my friends who are also pregnant and going through all of this at the same time as me.  Though all of my family and friends have been incredibly supportive and excited for our little munchkin, there is something about talking to someone who also throws up everyday (thankfully, no more of this for me), or only wants macaroni and cheese, or is trying to find maternity jeans that cost less than $50 and don't look like "mom jeans" at the same time as yourself.
- Ryan and I went to Las Vegas last weekend for our friends' wedding.  I was a little nervous, because, let's be honest, the Vegas strip doesn't seem like the best place for a pregnant lady to spend her time, but I had a great time and now BabyH can say she's been there.  (Because I am NOT letting her go back until she's at least 25. No, 30. Ok, fine, 27.  ... Actually, on second thought, I'm just going to use white-out and take Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Cancun off all the maps. Problem solved.)
- BabyH is quite the kicker.  In the evenings, I often find myself watching my stomach instead of my favorite TV show.  I see weekends at the soccer field in our future.
- About three weeks after we told our families that we were expecting, my brother and sister-in-law announced that they, too, had a little one on the way.  They found out the gender this week...and our little girl is going to have a little BOY cousin in addition to her four older cousins. Pebbles and BamBam for Halloween?  I think so!

  1. The Motherhood Maternity outlet down in Edinburgh has some maternity jeans that are around $30. The cuter ones are in the mid-$40s, but the ones that are $32 aren't horrible. Good luck clothes shopping!
